NUS Extra is the leading lifestyle and discount card for students.

On average, students save over £500 a year by using their Extra card. Buying your Extra Card is really easy and takes only a few minutes. Your card will then be delivered within 7 working days, so it doesn't take long before you can start saving money! The sales process is detailed below - so what are you waiting for?

You need 4 things to be able to continue:

1. You need to be a student

You need to be a student. If you are not sure whether you can apply for an Extra card, check the small print here. to make sure you are eligible for the NUS Extra card.

2. Have a webcam or recent photo ready

You will need to have a recent photo that you can upload or use a webcam to take a head and shoulders photograph.

3. Have your payment ready

We accept most credit and debit cards - and we don't charge any transaction fees. You can also pay by Paypal. The card costs £11.00 but some Unions offer additional local discounts for a small extra fee.

4. Have a unique email address that only you can access.

Photo guidelines

You will need to provide a head and shoulders passport style photo, preferably against a light background. You can either use a webcam now to take a photo or you can upload a jpeg. Our system allows you to crop and scale the image.

The photo you use should be:

  • A high quality jpeg
  • Not too close or far away
  • No larger than 640 (h) x 400 (w) pixels
  • Sharp focus and clear
  • No larger than 1mb in file size
  • Oh, and it must be a photo of you!
